But baby it's cold outside

Finally, winter is coming to Porto! And yes, I love this freezing weather. It's just so heartwarming to be on the sofa with a lot of blankets, watching a movie or whatever with a cup full of tea. And wintery clothes are so cute, so fuzzy and big.
The only thing that bugs me with this weather is waking up really early in the morning 'cause my bed is so freaking warm haha.
Who else loves winter?

Make a change, once in a while

So, I was kinda fed up with my no-shape-enormous-long hair (second image) so in March, this year, I've cut it by half which meant the size was right below my shoulders.
Today, I was feeling kinda annoyed by my hair because it was all flat and middle-lined, so I went to a neighbour's house, who's a hairdresser, and she cut my bangs, and here's the result. Pretty happy with it.
This was today's change, what was yours? :)

Work work work

Want something very badly? Work for it, everyday of your life. Even if it has nothing to do with what you really want. Sometimes we have to make sacrifices to get what we dream of, what it really belongs to us.
Even if it's just for a few minutes, do it, everyday. You won't regret it.
I've been telling myself to never give up, to never give in on what really matters to me. It's been working so far, I've been so optimist for the past weeks :)

Brittish stuff

First of all, a reminder that I'm Portuguese so it's possible I misspell or write down something incorrectly but feel free to correct me, please!
One sentence in my description is "born in the wrong country". I feel this way because since I was a little girl I got used to some English (Brittish English) habits and traditions. Partly because of my mother who studied English and German philology. I got the hang of speaking fluent English due to watching English television shows like BBC, Alf, Allo Allo, Black Adder and Cartoon Network instead of Portuguese ones. (I used to watch repeatedly episodes of Mr. Bean, it made me laugh so hard back then)
So, all my life I felt like I didn't really totally belong here in Portugal and dreamed of living outside, in the UK. I've only gone there twice in my life and I really feel like I could fit and make my own life there.
My main goal for the future is to finish my degree in Radiology in 2015 and move to the UK in the same year. As for now, I'll maybe go there next year for a 3 month internship on a hospital in London but it's all very undecided.
Besides all my dreams, Portugal is now facing some really tough times due to economic crisis we're all in. Our previous politicians left our country with major debts and now unemployment tax is very high, and in Health sector all available jobs are being reduced so I don't really have a bright future here. Some really good friends of mine have already gone to the UK to make their lives there. It's not all about "wanting to go" as well as "must go", for the sake of my future.
I have one final question to all Brittish and non-Brittish bloggers:

What are your thoughts and feelings towards this "dream" of mine?

Happy me in Camden Town, January 2013.

Date update

So, this blog was created on April this year but I'm gonna post some stuff that happened before that date. Just to clarify why the prologue's post is after other ones.

Lomography

To those who don't know what Lomography is, the accurate definition is the following:
Lomography is a community dedicated to creative and experimental analogue photography.

This post's here to explain some of the names of cameras I've been referring to on many publications, so enjoy!
So, for a long time I've wanted a analogue fisheye camera and I finally got the chance to purchase one so I got a Fisheye no.2, "Happiness Edition". The typical one is the black and metalic one but I saw this cutie and couldn't resist!
Fisheye no. 2 Shiawase
Later on, I participated on a Lomo contest with the Carnival theme with my friend Mafalda's lomo camera, a La Sardina. The contest was a "the biggest number of likes" based one. I won that with the picture below. My prize was a "Champagne Edition" La Sardina.

How does it feel to be Alive?

One of the things I love the most about summer is the summer music festivals. I began attending them at the age of 15 with my older brother and his friends and then got really used to going at any concerts and music festivals. It really releases my spirit and makes me happy, nothing I can really explain on a blog post.
Today I'll be talking about the Optimus Alive Festival that occurred in Oeiras, Lisbon during middle July. It's one festival I began going in 2009 and this year wasn't an exception. The line-up was so so good it would be a crime to miss it! I bought only two daily tickets, for the first and last day (it's only a three day festival).

On the first day, me and my friend Mafalda went to mainly see what would go on the main stage, the big one! Stereophonics, Biffy Clyro, Two Door Cinema Club and, my personal favorite, Green Day.
Stereophonics were great, really enjoyed their performance. Biffy Clyro were awesome, they were one of the ones I was really looking forward to seeing there. I shouted on all of the songs. Sad to say it was too short but the best was to come so, can't complain. Two Door Cinema Club were amazing! Really heated up for Green Day. Danced and sang a lot throughout their show. And then came my all time favorite punk band, Green Day. It was a very emotional concert for me since my expectations were very low on their show but then they played ALL of my favourite songs, the old-school ones! By the end of nearly two and a half hours of music and acting and jumping and screaming and singing, I was crying with all the happiness and memories this band brought to me during the beginning of my teenage life.

On the last day, it was a less emotional but not exciting day. This time, more friends joined me and Mafalda. We were mainly on the Heineken stage, the secondary stage. First we went to see The Brass Wires Orchestra, a Portuguese band, similar to Mumford and Sons. I've already saw them at a local concert but still loved them! Next, up on stage: Of Monsters and Men, a really great breakout band from Iceland. I had the luck to take a picture with one their lead singers, Nanna, in the middle of the crowd watching Kings of Leon.

(my face is just hilarious, looking like a 5 year old)

After them, we watched a bunch of bands, I won't talk about all of them, only my favorites. At about 9PM we watched one of my favourite concerts of all, Alt-J! My goodness, the whole concert was like an orgasm, really spiritual and mooding, I really loved it.

Enjoy some pics I took with my fisheye camera and cell.

Spring joy with the smell of Summer

From thursday, May 30th, 'till last night, June 1st, me and some friends worked at a local music festival, Optimus Primavera Sound. It's a very alternative festival that takes place at my city municipal park. The ambience is so peaceful, relaxing and artistic. It's really starting to grow outside Portugal since there was so many foreigners there, manly Spanish. But I got to know some Brittish guys from Essex, a real funny story actually. Loved Blur and Explosions in the Sky's performance, just amazing!

Here are some of the pictures taken by my cellphone, La Sardina and Canon 600D. Some of the pictures you can see in a full version on my personal section on Tumblr.

PROLOGUE

Hello there!
My name is Ni and I'm a Portuguese university student, 21 years young.
I've always loved the idea of having a blog and for a while I had one, but it was for personal texts and kind of poetry. Not many people read it anyway so I shut the thing down. Eventually I created a tumblr in 2010 and began reblogging some pictures and stuff but I didn't became any thing like "tumblr famous". (By the way, my tumblr is http://oh-itsyou.tumblr.com/ if you want to check it out)
So today, I decided to give it a try on the real blog world. With this one, I want something different. I want this to be a life, beauty, art kind of blog. So I'll share some life experiences, music, videos, photos and everything I feel like sharing with the world.

Hope y'all like what I'll be posting.
Lots of ♡,
Ni

P.S. Ni is not my real name. My birth name is Helena and "Ni" comes from the nickname my grandma called me "LeNInha" when I was a baby. Since then everyone calls me Ni :)
